Can we look at moving the 'Woke-ism of the day' thread to Current Affairs so we can discuss all issues that surround wokisms. As of now, the thread is limited to "lighthearted" wokisms, which does not allow for users to discuss the subject matter and everything that surrounds it. It appears that this thread is being shadowed by users who don't contribute to the thread, with the sole intention of reporting everything to shut the thread down.

The mods have been on the thread on more than several occasions in a short period of time, asking to keep the thread light-hearted. There are no specifics, just keep it lighthearted and throt along. The whole aspect of "woke" has evolved to include an array of societal issues that are becoming increasingly present in everyday life and are relevant under the "woke" title.

In the meantime, keep it lighthearted, or don't post in this thread.

AH is a light hearted forum. The thread itself has potential to go in many different directions none of which would suit the forum. Therefore better to start a new thread elsewhere on any topics you would specifically like to discuss in more detail.

    From the CA/IMHO charter
Have an opinion on a less-than-stellar topic? Want a discussion of the great questions of our time? Have a deep thought that's not quite lighthearted enough for After Hours? But not debate-worthy enough for the Politics Forum?

Current Affairs/IMHO is a forum where users discuss these topics, within, of course, the bounds of civil discourse....

    ...
Do not post any material that you know or should know is hateful, abusive, harassing, false and/or defamatory, inaccurate, vulgar, obscene, profane, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or illegal.

You are free to express your views in a forceful manner provided you remain civil....
Seems like it could be a good fit,

Lets point out something obvious here, there's plenty of threads in after hours that are in no way light hearted but carry on their merry course unhindered by constant post deleting and general blaggarding by certain mods.

Whats so special about this particular thread lads? Why does it rustle your Jimmies so?

I received an infraction for the below post.

This can be damaging for both genders. The wokeness of identity politics strikes again. To keep it lighthearted, these teachers are un well and should not be allowed near children again.https://7news.com.au/news/education/...xism-c-2436295

The mods are more than happy to dish out warnings on this thread allow for those that do not contribute (other than to complain, to shadow mod and report posts with the sole intention of cancelling a debate. The above falls withing the "wokism" topic. This is all very suspicious.

You want a thread in CA then start one rather than try to shut one down, good chap

    What's the point.

The thread goes against the prevailing politics of boards, do you really think it will be any more free for opposing opinions that the trans thread is with it's narrow band of rightthink being imposed?

Leave the AH one, but create another one in CA for people to discuss in more detail and seriousness in the CA thread. The CA one can feed off the AH one.

No one wants a thread shut down, chap.

Im floating the idea of the current AH thread to be moved to CA because of the mods stepping in, telling the thread to keep things "light-hearted" whenever a user attempts to discuss the topic further. The mods would close down a new thread in CA because of the current one in AH.

The AH one has rarely been “fun” or “lighthearted”. Every so often there’s something funny put up but it’s quickly goes back to angry complaints about current affairs or “The WOKE”.

You also get users, continually, putting up satirical or parody “stories” which, admittedly, can be pretty funny but, again, it sets other users off who don’t understand that it’s a joke and they start off ranting angrily.

If the thread was moved to CA it would require very little moderator attention and could go on unchecked where users can have a laugh but also rail against the current socio-political “climate”.

I actually laughed out loud reading this (no offence). It would be a cesspit if it was left unchecked in CA.

That may well be but better that happens in CA rather than in AH. It would just be “background noise” in there anyway and might, actually, be a bit funnier.

At the moment it just seems like CA-type users are posting out and out “attacks”, that are not in keeping with the thread in AH, knowing it’ll be removed or maybe they’re hoping the mods won’t notice. Either way, it just seems like a lot of posters angrily moaning rather laughing.

What’s the point of having a “Current Affairs” forum if threads like that, which basically cover current affairs and users opinions on them are left in AH?

If any of them are current affairs then a new thread can be started to discuss it.

That’s all well and good but that’s not going to stop the “lighthearted” AH thread getting over run with angry posts mocking women’s soccer or trans people.

None of that is out of the ordinary in the “Current Affairs” forum. The thread could be both lighthearted and vicious in there. The “usual suspects” can continue to spew their nasty views while others can have a laugh.

It sticks out like a sore thumb in AH and drags down the tone of the forum, in general. Posters who don’t normal post in AH very often end up lingering after dumping spite in that thread.

Can anyone honestly say the thread has been “lighthearted” or that the CA posters are laughing and joking in there? The mood of the thread has been angry for a long time now.

Surely the mainstream media’s “WOKE” agenda, along with today to today twitter postings count as a “current affair”. If the tone was irreverent and fun, I’d understand, but it’s far, far, far away from that.

In CA it would be, rightly, given much more “leeway”.

What does it matter which forum the thread exists in? Either way it will still exist. After Hours isn't a physical environment where every thread is unavoidable and has to be viewed.

That really says a lot more about the posters who bother to post in it and would continue to do so if moved, than CA or moderation of the forum

The AH mods have from the outset tried to keep the thread lighthearted for good reason - because every time mod attention is taken away from the thread, a percentage of posters drag the thread into thinly veiled bigotry, under the banner of 'wokeism' until the mods have to step back in again.

Now that the AH mods have put their foot down about keeping it lighthearted, a subset of posters immediately want it moved from the AH forum to CA. One doesn't have to think too hard to figure out why that might be.

The last thing the CA forum needs is a catch all megathread of rants against marginalized sectors of society. The thread can either remain in AH in its lighthearted form or closed. It will not however, be moved to CA.
